HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Commerce and Tourist Division has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, 4th' December, 1909:— The muttou market is very dull; average price .Canterbury 3Jd> per lb.. North liland j|d. Larg-o supplies of Dutch mutton are coming forward and' Belling at 4d to 4>Jd p-er lb. English ewes are being marketed at ss<X per lb. Thero is a dull sale for all lamb, and the market w weak. Canterbui-y averages 3Jd par lb, and other New Zealand brands 3{jd. The beef market is weak, with no change in prices. New Zealand hinds 3id, fores 3d. Thero is a good demand for butter at reduced prices. Buyers are holding back expecting prices to -go lower; supplies aro increasing, t Average price of choicest New Zenlandi 115s per cwt., Australian 112s, Danish i24s, and Siberian 109s. The cheese market is quiet, and prices are slightly woaker. Average prico of .finest New Zealand 565. \ The hemp market is quiet but firm. (Jood business has been done in New Zealand hemp at last quotations Good fair, on spot, £28 10s; fair, £27 10s; January to March shipments, £28 and £27. Manila hemp is weaker as a result of heavy arrivals. The week's outnut of Manila was 28.0 CC Laic*. TYTjeat is » firm market. Peas —Thu market is firm owing to reduced supplies ; the spot demand is good, also to arrive. New Zealand partridge peas, 54s per 5041b.
