A CAUSE FOR ANXIETY.

In the Canadian House of Commons, Mr. Foster raised a debate upon the United Spates having seven warships on 'the Great Lakes in violation of the Treaty of 1817. Canada, said Mr. Foster, was nt the mercy of this formidable force. The Prime Minister, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, deprecated discussion in view of the fact that correspondences was now proceeding, but admitted that there was cause for anxiety. The situation was due to individual American States bordering the lakes clamouring for a share in military expenditure, and this kind of thing would have to bo me£.
