THE TURE. WELLINGTON PONY AND GALLOWAY CLUB.

The December meeting of the Wellington Pony and Galloway Club opened at Miramar on Saturday afternoon. The beautiful weather was responsible for the large attendance. Among those present were several M.P.'s, who are officials of registered clubs, and were taking notes for future reference. The 14.2 champion Huia, scored his fifth, successive win in the Karaka Handicap. He was saddled up again in the Grandstand Handicap, with the welter weight of 11.11. He beat everything except Dorina, who was shot out of the barrier. The Auckland-bred Ciscarose, by San Francisco (sire of Elevation), did not win out of her turn. She had done a satisfactory trial on the Lyell Bay beach, and was sent to the post in first class fettle by trainer J. 0. Morris. Lady Neta made her first appearance at Miramar in the race won by Ciscarose. She ran off the course near the main entrance and managed to get through the gate without injuring herself or jockey Merson, who threw himself off. The success of Picotee in the principal event was popular. The sister to Polyanthus acted as runner up in the principal event at Hutt Park. She is a member of E. Eager's team and is one of the neatest ponies in trahiingi aft Resign and Muskerado made their first appearance in the race. The first named was not suited by the sharp turns and ran last. On a bigger track Muskerado would probably have won. He led at the home turn but ran very wide. Later in the afternoon he was saddled up again and another rider was substituted, but he did no better. Neither did Resign. The local sport who races under the name of W. Guthrey started two in the District Handicap. The pair were not bracketed as there was no totalisator, but the owner followed the pie-toe period by declaring to win with Sunshine. The public followed the declaration. Halfway down the running she looked like beating Plying Wind, but the latter, cleverly handled by Mallowes, won by a neck. Miss Vera, was expected to break a long run of placed performances in the Railway Handicap, Dut she had to bs content with second place to Lorua Doone, who is closely related to Advantage. The Miramar performer is by Addington, and Advantage by Vanguard, both sires being by the son of Traducer — En Avant, who carried "Ready Money" Robinson's colours to victory in the Great Autumn Hanflicap and other races.
