When a woman meets a man half-way, lie begins to think it is time for him to turn

On Friday afternoon the employees of the Diamond Confectionery Company assembled for the purpose of bidding farewell to Miss Elsie Andrews, who is about to leave the firm's employ on the occasion of her approaching marriage. Mr. Jones presented Miss Andrews, on behalf of her fellow workers, with a silver cream jug and sugar basin as a mark of their regard and esteem. He added a cheque on behalf of the firm. The recipient, Mr. Jones said, had grown up in the firm's employ, and it was one of the pleasantest duties to testify to the esteem he felt for .Miss Andrews. Mrs. Jones added a few words of commendation, and Mr. Mills spoke on behalf of the employees. The little gathering concluded with hearty cheers for the future bride and for the principals, Mr. and Mrs. Jones. Among the guests at the Day's Bay House are Dr. and Mrs. Valintine, Misses Valintine (2), Mrs. Henry Blun dell, Miss Blundell, Mr. and Mrs. R. U. Harden (Feilding), Mr. A. Budgett, and Mrs. W. Levin and party (Greatford).
