LAWN TENNIS

MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held last night. There were present — Mr. J. C. Peacock (chairman), Professor Hunter., Messrs R. Swanston, 6. A. Hurley, '&. Young, F. Laishley, E. Salmond, and G. N. Goldie (secretary). The -nomination of Mies Powdrell was forwarded by the New Plymouth Lawn Tennis Association for the New Zea-land-New South Wales contest at Auckland at the end of the year. Notice of tho affiliation of the Martinborough Club to the Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association was received. Official programmes were approved for the appended tennis tournaments: — Martou, 21st and 22nd January; Pahiatua, Ist and 3rd January; Ashburton, 25th, 27th, and 28th December ; and New Plymouth, Ist and 3rd January. A committee meeting of tho council was held regarding the visit of ' Professor Hunter, New Zealand delegate, to the New South Wales Conference, and also concerning the Davis Cup controversy. !
