MEETING OF WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. Mr. M. F. Lucki'e prosified al a meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association hold last evening. The Umpires' Association secretary intimated that things wore not well with tho association. After h\e years of hard ■work it was now difficult to find sufficient umpires for the senior games. It was decided (with a view to assisting) that members of the Umpires' Association officiating at championship matches should be granted the privilege of honorary members of the association for the current year. Ono of the privileges was that they should^ receive free passes for championship ' and other matches. The committco recommended in regard to the preparation of wiekcts on the Basin Reserve for school matches on Fridays, that the- Public Schools' Association should make its own arrangements with the groundsmen. Tho Management Committee approved. _ Clubs are to be informed, in consoquonco of . some complaints, that all the requirements '.• of . the association in tho matter of ke'epiflg -nets used on the reserve in repair, must be complied with. An application from the ' Victoria College Club for a practice wicket on the Basin Reserve was- reforred to the Ground Committee. Regarding tho matter of the irregular and incomplete scoring in the South v. East B match on the Basin Reserve, the committee Expressed the opinion (affirmed by The Post on Monday) that the matter -was -one for the clubs themselves. A profit" of 13s vas made on the afternoon tea room last Saturday. In reply to a complaint from the V.M.C.A. Club of the dangerous nature of the No. 2 practice wicket allotted them at Newtown Park, an instruction was issued to tho Championship Committee that all wickets in future should be properly prepared. It was carried by resolution that unless clubs in arrears with subscriptions (said subscriptions are due on 15th November), do not pay up before Saturday next, steps would be taken to enforce the rules. In order to assist the Karori District Club, the association has decided, on the understanding that its action was not to be taken as a precedent, that, if Karori entered a team in the championships (probably third-class), the association would pay the difference between the ground rent (£6) charged by tho Karori Borough Council and the amount credited to the club in respect of ground fees. PLUNKET SHIELD GAMES. In connection with the above, tho New t Zealand Council wrote confirming the date for the Wellington v. Auckland match— 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th December. The Canterbury Association wishes, if Wellington wins tho shield, to play tho holders on Ist, 3rd, and 4th January, 1910, the match to bo a shield match. Members questioned tho right of the southern body to send a challenge antil the shield was won; whilo it pointed out that, in making the fixtures so near, it would bo inflicting a hardship on the_ Wellington men in the matter of travelling. After discussion it was decided to accept the challenge providing Wellington beats Auckland. The Selection Committee •was recommended to have tho team for the Auckland match selected a? far as possible a fortnight before the date of the fixture.
