TWO ALLEGED ENCROACHMENTS.
ON LAND AND PRIVILEGES. Encroachments on streets, a risk on which Councillor Fletcher is understood to keep a wary eye, are concerned in a notice of motion given by that councillor for next Thursday's meeting of the City Council. The tnotion is in the following terms : — That the owner of Section 47, situate at the corner of Willis and Wordsworthstreets, having encroached some 4ft 6in on to Willis-street, instructions be issued at once calling upon him to move the fence back to the proper boundary. With the view of restoring to the council powers which have been curtailed to some ext-ent, the same councillor is to move a motion couched in the terms following : — " That the resolution passed on the 29th August, 1907, dealing with the Town Hall be rescinded, viz. : 'The Finance Committee recommended that they have power to • deal with the Town Hall generally, tariff, variations, and the free use of the halls.'
