(Received September 7, 8.15 a.m.) LONDON, 6th September. Mr. L. C. Bernacchi, the physicist who accompanied the Discovery Antarctic expedition, suggested that the altitude of the sun and the temperature of the air mentioned by Dr. Cook must be distorted by therefore, it was impossible that he could have determined the position of the Pole with the certainty he claims.
