There appears (states fhe Herald's Waihi correspondent) to be some prospect of Australian capital being introduced for the purpose of exploiting the Waihi Eldorado claim, which comprises 97 acres of ground, and adjoins the Waihi and Waihi Gladstone properties on their eastern boundaries. Correspondence is now passing between the holders of the claim and the representatives of Australian capital. OLD HAURAKI. The manager of the Old Hauraki mine telegraphed to Auckland on Friday as follows: — "Water out of crosscut. Latter going with^the reef, which is 6in. wide. A few pieces of picked stone." The chairman of the Auckland Exchange (Mr. G. A. Buttle), referring to the reported bagging of specimens, stated that the acting secretary of the Old Hauralci Company had called upon him to ask that it should be made known to the Exchange that the news which was received at the office came from the chairman of the company. So far as the office was concerned, there was no warrant for the statement about " anything from 501b to 1001b of specimen stone" being bagged.
