The Government's mediation has been accepted in the dispute which led to the general strike. SETTLEMENT OF THE SYDNEY TROUBLE. GLAUMS REFERRED TO WAGES BOARD. (Received September 6, 9.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A compromise has been reached in regard to the dispute at the Portland cement works, and. the five hundred who went on strike will resume work to-day. The settlement is conditional ori the men's claims being considered by the Wages Board.
