DELEGATES AT BRISBANE. BELIEF IN A WORKABLE SCHEME. By Telegraph.— Press Association. — Copyright. (Received September 6, 10.35 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Twenty British and nine Canadian delegates to the Chambers of Commerce Congress about to be held in Brisbane, arrived here by the Marama from Vancouver. In the course of an interview, one of the British delegates dealt with the importance of tho Congress in the direction of fostering and federating the trade of the Empire. He recognised that preferential trade within the Empire would be the principal topic of discussion. Personally, the delegate said, he strongly believed that a' scheme could be devised which would prove beneficial both to the Mother Country and *o the colonies. The visitors expressed high appreciation of the offers of assistance made by New Zealand and Australia in the matter of defence of the Empire.
