BOY SCOUTS.
CO-ORDINATION OF THE MOVEMENT. A very good day was spent by representatives from a number of city patrols of Boy Scouts at Lyell Bay on Saturday afternoon, when signalling, tracking, searching, and penetration of lines were indulged in. During the present week, the Brooklyn, V.M.C.A., and a number of other patrols will be in camp at various spots. The Wo first-named patrols will be under canvas at the lower end of Happy Valley> and will be instructed in the various details of camp life. Scout-master Stych takes charge of the Brooklyn troop and Scoutmaster Adair of V.M.C.A. The Miramar troop will also practice camp exercises during the week. Dr. R. H. Makgill, commander of the North Island division of the Boy Scouts, has lately visited Wanganui, where he finds that the movement has a strong hold. Dr. Makgill is now at Auckland visiting the various local branches of the movement. The Boy Scout movement throughout the Dominion is being co-ordinated by the constitution of an executive. Major Cossgroye, oi Kaiapoi, holds the rank of Dominion Chief Scout, tiolonel Snow has bpen appointed commander of the South Island, and Dr. 8.. H. Makgill is in command oi" the North Island. Mr. Hector M'Leod, who is secretary for the North Island, will keep the register of patrols for that division, and communications concerning the movement may be addressed to him, care V.M.C.A., Wellington. District commands, which will control the work in the various centres, are about to be established.
