MYSTERY CLEARED UP. THE TWENTY-FIVE LIFE-BELTS
[BY TELEGRAPH—PHESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, This Day. The mystery connected with life-beltß washed ashore near Mangonui has been cleared up by the statement that in a general cleaning-up on the steamer Cornwall about a week ago, west of Cape Maria, a lot of condemned life-belts and other rubbish were thrown overboard. They were probably marked red with rust—certainly not with blood. THE MOKOIA. DUNEDIN, This Day. In regard to the Mokoia, which reach* ed Sydney last night, the Union Com-y pany has been advised that no life-belts were lost from her.
