During a debate in the Anglican Synod last evening, a clergyman related, with some concern, the fact that certain vacancies existed in the diocese. Later on, the Bishop declared that the diocese was better off for clergy now than was the case when he came here. Four of the parochial clergy had left the diocew, and eleven had- come here —a net gain ofi seven. This announcement was received with applause. Two expressmen, named John Jackson and David M'Goombe, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court to-day to fighting on fhe stand at the Thorndon Railway Station.
