Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justice of New Zealand, was entertained at lunch i in the House of Commons by the United Kingdom Alliance. In the course of an address Sir Robert remarked that a triennial local option vote would, if tried in England, do more for the education of public opinion on the temperance question than the closing of scores of public houses.
