THE RECENT POSTAL STRIKE.
"SWAN SONG" OF THE AGITATION. A DUMMY ORGANISATION. Bj Telegrapb.— l'resß Association.— Copyright PARIS, 18th May. The collapse of the postal strike is explained by the disillusionment of the unions regarding the power of the General Confederation of Labour. Every strike patronised by this body, which for months pa&t has pursued a policy of bluff by professing to be able I to paralyse society and government, has failed. M. Niel, secretary of the Confederation, addressing a congress of miners at j Leus, a coal-producing centre in Pas- j de-Calais, sorrowfully admitted that the j organisation merely existed on paper. He urged the workers to make it a reality. This sp.eech is interpreted as the swan song of the present revolutionary agitation. ! Forty -six more postal strikers have j been dismissed in Paris.
