DREADNOUGHT OFFER.

TO THE EniTOtt. Sir, — As one of those who was disgusted at the tactics of a certain section at last Thursday's meeting, I should like to state my opinions regarding the uproar, and likewise protest at so much notice being taken of the rowdy section. In the first place, sir, I think that had the meeting been held in the big Town Hall, whore so excellent an opportunity would not be given the noisy faction to pack the meeting, there would have been no disorder, as the average workingman is distinctly loyal to the Empire. Now, sir, I was one of those who, as a working-man and a colonist of thirty years' standing, rejoiced at the lead which the Navy League has given us of expressing our loyalty to the Mother Country, and I am sorry to find that no public meeting to support the honourable Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, and to honour him for supporting the Navy of the Old Land has been cailed 1 . In my opinion, if the large hall were taken, so many respectable citizens would come as to make it impossible for the local Tammany Hall of the wharf to spoil the meeting. It is now clear that a certain section came to disturb the proceedings, but as they represent only a small minority we don't need to take much notice of them. — I am, etc., LOYALIST. 15th May.
