The Board of Trade returns for April show that imports increased £2,099,267, exports decreased £1,746,880, and reexports increased £1,857,772, as compared with i the corresponding month last year. The improvement in imports was due partly to an advance in prices, especially wheat, and (partly to larger imports of wool, cotton, and certain other articles on the eve. of the Budget, in case of duties being imposed.
