THE AMOKURA RETURNS.

A SUCCESSFUL CRUISE. Shortly after one o'clock this morning the Government training ship Amokura returned after what the master (Captain Hooper, R.N.R.), states to have been a highly successful cruise on the east coast of the North Island. The vessel proceeded from hex-e as far north as the Hauraki Gulf, where gun practice took place. She called at Tologa Bay on her way home. The lads had an excellent training in throwing the lead and other arts of seamanship. The Amokura will remain in port for the winter, and the lads are shortly to have a fortnight's holiday leave. Many of them, are now fully competent for service, having served the time appointed for apprenticeship.
