VICTORIA COLLEGE STUDENTS.
ANNUAL MEETING
Last night the Victoria College Students' Association held its eleyenth annual general meeting in the largest lecture room of the college. Mr. 11. F." O'Leary presided, and about two hundred students were present. As, usual with such gatherings, the proceedings were considerably enlivened with uproarious outbursts of mirth, the singing of familiar refrains, and most of the practices thai student inpoudanee suggests for drowning decorous deliberation. The report ami balance-sheut (which were outlined in yesterday's Post) were adopted, not without a good deal of. discus&ion. The chairman pointed out an omission in the report to extend con-. gratuJalions to the Debating Society's representatives., who won, for the first time, on behalf of Victoria College 'the city tournament and the union's oratorical competition. The Cricket Club was also congratulated on attaining the position of runner-up in the Junior Championship, and it was hoped the Athletic Club, which had to abandon its sports meeting, would receive more support during the coming eeae-on. Mr. Allan MacDougall, winner of the Rhodes Scholarship, received congratulations on his selection, and good wishes for his future career. During a discussion on the balancesheet it was explained that nil expenses in connection with the inter-University tournament at Easter had to be borne by the local student bodies. There was a net loss of £4 Is lOd, notwithstanding donations, including £25, from the Professorial Board. Election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : — Patron, Professor Kirk ; president, Mr. F. A. Wilson ; vicepresidents, iMiss <L. 'Macintosh, and Mr. J. F. Thompson ; hon. treasurers, Mi«s B. I. Reeve and Mr. L. Shoit; delegates to Easter Tournament, Committee, Messrs D. S. Smith and J. MoL. 'Hogbcn ; hon. secretary, Mr. T. N. Holmden ; committee, 'Misses E. N. Samson, Fell, M. R. Barkas, and Messrs. J. ML. Hogben, E. Lyon, A. H. Bogle, and A. T. Duncan; hon. auditor, 'Mr. Geo. Reid. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr. G. H. Dixon, who is retiring from the position of tournament representative, for his past services. iMr. Dison. in reply, 6tated that it gave him regret to snap the last link in the chain that bound him to the college. The ougoing committee was also thanked for its work during the past year. It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the in-going committee to take steps to obtain -a telephone for the usi> of sudenls at the college. At the present time students requiring the use of the telephone already installed have to obtain permission from one of the professors, and the restriction has been found inconvenient. The new instrument will probably be installed in the gymnasium building. I iMedals were presented to Miss Reeves (winner of the ladies' tennis championship), Mr. T. TUgg (winner of the threemile race), Mr. A. H. Bogle (two medals, one for the 120 yds and the other for the 440.vd6 running races), and iiessrs. 0. H. Gib'b and D. S Smith (winners of the debating contest).
