In tho schools swimming- contests for tho N.Z.A.S.A. proficiency certificates, the following girls and boys were passed by Mr. T. Shields: — Girls — Miss Arthur, 1500 yds; Ivy M'Farlane, Terrace, 200 yds; Flossie Warren. Girls' College, 450 yds. Boys — Eric King, Clyde-quay, 200yda; Jack Peat, Terrace, 200 yds; K. Sandilands Clyde-quay, 220 yds; D. Scott, Clyde-quay, 220 yds; F. Saxton, Terrace, 225 yd s; Albert Crowther, Mount Cook, 400 yds; F. Stevell, Roseneath. 440 yds; Baron de Castro, Wellington College, 440 yd s; Norman Leslie, Clyde-quay, 440 yd s; L. Meehan, Mount Cook, 450 yd s; Jack Forsylhe, Mount Cook, 500 yds; J. Grant, Mount Cook, 600 yds; D Adams, Roseneath. 600 yds; Roy Gandy, Terrace, 1000 yd s; R. Packer, Terrace, 900 yd s; Eric St. George, Terrace, 1100 yds; Willis TurnbuH. Nelson College, 1000 yds.
