PERSONAL MATTERS.
The ,Hon. T. Mackenzie left to-day for Rotorua. Mr. W. Fraser, M.P. for Wakatipu, left for the South last night. Mr. James, postmaster at Naseby, is to take charge of the Post and Telegrsph Office at Waipawa, vice the late Mr. Staunton. Sir Joseph Ward left for the South last night. The Hon. Dr Findlay, the Hon. D. Buddo, and the Hon. A. T. Ngata are the only Ministers in Wellington to-day. The Palmerston North High School Board has selected Miss Margaret Ronalclson, of Tirnaru, to fill the position of junior mistress at the local school. There were eighteen applicants. Mr. C. D. Grey has been elected Mayor of Auckland for the remainder of the term of Mr. A. M. Myers, who resigned prior to leaving for England. The voting was (says a Press Association telegram): — Grey, 8; Bagnall, 7. On Saturday Mr. VY. A. Roberts was the recipient of 'a handsome presentation from his fellow employees as a j parting gift, on severing his connection with the nrm of Messrs. D. Benjamin and Co.. aiter 12 years' service. The death is announced of Mr. J. H. Rundle, a very old resident of Taradalo, Hawkes Bay. He was for several years a member of the Taradale Town Board and of the local School Committee and the River Board. At the Methodist Conference this morning the Rev. C. E. Beecroft moved that a vote of sympathy be passed to Mr. C. E. Darvell, of Taihape, on the less of his premises by nre yesterday, and that a teiegram be sent to him accordingly. The motion was passed unanimously. The death occurred at Palmerston North last night of a member of a ft-mily well known on the coast in the" person of Mr. Thomas Wellington Nathan, aged 68. He was born in Wellington in 1841 (telegraphs our Palmerston correspondent), and spent the a*. hole of his life in New Zealand, seeing service in the Maori war. He was engaged for years in a contracting business. He was a brother of Mr Anthony Nathan, Mayor of Taihape, of Mrs. Oimsbee, of Wellington, and of Mrs. T. Bush, of Wellington.
