4 Frank Wilson, for disobedience of an order to pay 7s per week (arrears £6 13s 6d) towards the maintenance of his illegitimate child, was, in the S.M. •Court ye^fce-rtjay, convicted and sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, warrant to be suspended if the amount is paid before the Bth March. An application for summary separation preferred by Caroline Stapleton against Percrval Stapleton was granted. Complainant was given custody of the children, and defendant was ordered to pay 25s per week, and £2 lls costs. Wm. Beck applied for a cancellation of a maintenance order in favour of Beatrice Beck. An order was made cancelling arrears, and the payment was ordered to be reduced to 10s per week. A young man named Walter Mill, appeared on two separate charges of having fraudulently obtained the sum of £2, belonging to his employer, John Varcoe. Mr. Weston, who appeared for accused, asked for leniency. Mr. Riddell, S.M., stated that Mill had appeared before for dishonesty, and the court would have to convict accused. On one charge a fine of £3 was imposed with an option of 14 days' imprisonment. On the other charge, accused would come up for sentence when called upon. Alfred Frnndi, for driving round tho corner of Willis and Manners streets at faster than a walking pace, was convicted and fined 10s, with costs 7s.
