BLUEJACKETS' BENEFIT CONCERT.
The minstrel and variety troupe of men-o'-warsmen of H.M.S. Cambrian has made all arrangements for to-night's entertainment in the Masonic Hall, Boul-cott-street, whereby it is hoped to relievo the widows and relatives dependent upon those who were lost in the recent naval disaster in Sydney. It is stated that much musical talent exists in the warship company, and it is confidently expected that an enjoyable programme will be submitted. The Mayor has signified his intention of being present. The Newfown Brass Band has volunteered to play selections prior to the perfoimance. CLEMENT L. WRAGGE. The residents of Wellington will shortjy be afforded an opportunity of hearing Mr. Clement L. Wragge, F.R.G.S., the well-known meteorologist and astronomer, who will lecture on the science of which he has made a long study. The first of these scientific entertainments will take place on Wednesday evening ne^xt at the concert chamber of the Town" Hall, and is entitled "A Voyage Through the Universe.'' < The latest slides added to Mr. Wragge's already large collection are stated to be exceptionally fine, and the journey through space — which he in spirit takes his audience — is nicely illustrated. The box plan opens on Monday at the Dresden. THE MALLINSONS. It is a pleasure to note the success of those two artists, the MallLnsons, in New Zealand Judging from reports received, lovers of music have realised the> worth of these artists, and are attending their recitals in large numbers. Since leaving Wellington, successful recitals have been given in Dunedin, Nelson, and Napier, and; as advertised elsewhere, another opportunity is to be afforded the Wellington public of hearing Mr. and Mrs. Mallinson before they leave for England. Mi*. John Prouse will assist at the coming recitals, and will sing (for the first time in New Zealand) a number of son«s written by Mr. Mallinson for the male voice. A sacred concert will be given tomorrow '(Sunday) evening in the Opera House. Miss Florence Hayward will sing, two songs, and will also join In a duet with Miss Annis Dobbie, who will sing two songs. Mr. John Vitteta will give harp solos and Mr. Ernest/ Archer will sing.
