DEMANDS FOR LABOUR.

During the past few weeks small batches of men have been drafted both to the Catlins and Lawrence-Roxburgh railways, and although the iron foundries appear to be a litle quieter than usual for this period of the year, builders and joinery mills are busy, and it is only with difficulty thai experienced tradesmen have been found to keep, pace with the demand for labour. There is also a dearth of capable country •workers, and there are ample opportunities: of employment for this class.
