TARIFF REFORM. WHEN THE UNIONISTS RETURN TO POWER.
WHAT THEY WILL DO. TAX ON WHEAT AND MEAT.* By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received December 11, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 10th December. The Right Jon. George Wyndham, Conservative member for Dover in the House of Commons, speaking at Liverpool, declared that when the Unionists return to power they will immediately introduce a tariff reform Budget, including a 2s duty upon wheat, and a tax on meat, both with preference to the colonies. He also said that personally he favoured a tax on foreign wood, but no tax on wool. He considered it unnecessary to await a conference between the colonies and tho Motherland before legislating, or to appoint a second commission to prepare a scientific Imperial tariff.
