The Legislative Assembly passed the estimates after 30 hours' coutinuous sitting. Mr. Wade, the Premier, warned Labour members against opposing the Government's immigration proposals. He dwelt on the necessity of Australia being prepared to resist an influx of Chinese and Japanese. The Government is increasing .the immigration vote from £10,000 to £15,000, and will allow the Salvation Army a bonus for bringing out selected immigrants. The Labour Council strongly objects to any bonus being given to the Army.
