At to-day's meeting of tho Exchange, brokers reported a fair number of sales. In the financial group, Equitable Building shares, which are not often on the market, were taken at £10. New Zealand Insurance continue firm, and buyers had to pay the higher price of £3 14s 3d to secure them. Cum dividend, Kauri Timber changed hands at 15s 6d. The feature of the mining section was the dealing in Talisman scrip, several parcels of which were transferred at rates ranging from £2 2s 3d to £2 2s 6d. Waihi were dealt in at £8 17s. Buyers of Wellington Gas second issue offered £11 ss, whilst sellers of the new issue were asking a premium of 15s. Union Steam quotations moved up to £1 16s buyer, without shares being obtained. Bank of New Zealand sellers wanted £8 14s/ and National Banks also were higher at £5 5s 6d, with buyers willing to give £5 2s 6d. Other quotations were practically unchanged.
