LAWN TENNIS.
MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTED. The Management Committee of the Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association met last evening. Present — Messrs. A. 11. Kimbell (chairaifta), J. W. Dart, 11. F. O'Leary, "F. A. Lewis, J. Hogben, and T. H. Jones. It was decided that the two events for public schools players at the Wellington tournament should be got off on the second day of the tournament, Saturday, 2nd January. This will avoid the necessity of making daily trips to Day's Bay." The Ground Committee reported that players in, a match at Day's Bay had been observed playing in boots and shoes with leather soles and heels, thereby injuring! the turf. It was resolved to ( ircularise the clubs asking secretaries to plat'K notices in the club-houses disapproving of the practice. .M^ter u!<-ciiss?ng the Brougham Hill Club's appi-al on the Shield Committee's decision ip the transfer question, the chairman was unable to decide whether an appeal was permissible, as no proof was available that evidence was callsd or submitted by the Shield Committee. The following motion was then passed : "That the secretary be instructed to ascertain from tho secretary of the Shield Committee whether evidence had been called or submitted in the matter of the Brougham Hill Club's application for transfer of Miss Morgan, and if so what witnesses they examined ; and also ask the secretary of that committee for a copy of correspondence between secretary"and Brougham Hill Club on the subject."
