MR. HOGG ENTERTAINED.
THE VACANT PORTFOLIO. [By Telegbaph.— Special to The Post.] MASTERTON, This Day. There was a very large attendance at the "social" given to Mr. Hogg, M.P., last evening. The Minister of Justice, speaking in reference to Mr. Hogg, remarked that he was one of the hardest working members in the House, and had also done yeoman service on the Land Board and Education Board," and was at all times a consistent supporter of the present Government. At the conclusion of the "social" the committee approached Mr. Hogg and asked him to consent to the circulation of a petition to the Premier asking that Mr. Hogg be given a portfolio in the new Ministry, preferably that as Minister ] of Lands. Mr. Hogg stated that he left the matter entirely in the hands of his committee, and it was decided to circulate the petition at once.
