I.BX TELEGRAPH-— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. At Tikorangi on Monday night a tree fell across the tent of a Maori who was employed felling bush, crushing him and his wife. Both were removed to New Plymouth Hospital, where the woman died last night. The man is seriously injured.
The Wanganui hoteUcecpers evidently intend "setting their house in order." Seme time ago a decision was arrived at by the publicans that they would serve no one addicted to excessive drinking. A list has been prepared, and the persons concerned have, so to speak, been warned off the course. At a meeting on Friday the names of some additional people, who are not prohibited but who waste their money, were added to the list. The Island Bay Volunteer Fire Brigade is now in possession of its uniforms, and there was a full muster last night, when Sergeant O'Brien made an official inspection. Parrots by the hundreds, pheasants, peacocks, Java sparrows, parrakeets, and other birds arrived by the Ulimaroa Irom Sydney to-day. Mr W H. George, of George and Kersley, will leave next Friday on an extended business trip. Amongst other places, he will visit India, Japan, China, and America. To-iuon'ow, at 5 p.m. Messrs. Levien, Shallcrass and Co. will se}l by public auction in their rooni3, Willis-street, a large consignment of ladies' and gentlemen's bicycles. Particulars are advertised in this issue. Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., advertise particulars of an auctidn sale of photographic planl, removed from Mrs. Herman's, Cuba-street studio. The sale will be held next Monday, at ono o'clock in the firm's rooms. Messrs.
