fBT Tbleokaph. — Special to The Post.l MASTERTON, This Day. The dry northerly winds experienced in this district during the past fortnight have had a bad effect upon crops and pastures. Last night, however, splendid rain began to fall, and gives promise the continuing. This well-timed downpour will be of incalculable benefit to the district, as it will top off the crops and give the pastures fresh growth. Throughout the whole of the Wairarapa crops are in magnificent condition, and the yield wil l undoubtedly be a record one. j [BZ TEIiMJKAPH. — I'ItESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, This Day. Steady rain set in last night, and continued till neai midday, over an inch j falling. It will be particularly welcome to farmers whose pastures showed effects of the dry weather experienced last month. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Rain overnight and during the early part of the day was very welcome, but it was not enough. It would take two days more rain to put gardens, pastures and crops just right. NAPIER, This Day. Splendid rain commenced^ during the night and continued throughout the day. it will do incalculable good. DANNEVIRKE, This Day. Welcome rain is falling. It is much appreciated by farmersMore rain, nearly half an inch, last night gladdened Wellington's gardeners. This morning gentle showers prevailed throughout New Zealand, and caused much rejoicing. The skies were clearing over the city this afternoon, but the official forecast hinted at a probability of rain "in parts of the North Island."
