At 9 a.m. the following forecast was issued for the subsequent 24 boars: — Wind.— Southerly, heavy gale northward of Hokitika and Lyttelton; stiong to gale thence southward. Barometer. — Rise everywhere. Sea. — jVery heavy on western coast; heavy on- east| coast south of Cnstlepoint and East Cape; moderate elsewhere. Tides. — Very high on west coast of North Island ; high on both coasts ol South Island and at Castlepoint; moderate at all other ports. Rain is probable with much colder weather everywhere.
