The heated area at Allanton 'Mine is sealed up, and the management have decided to keep it closed for a time to enable the gas generated, principally black damp, to accumulate and check the incipient fire. The water that is rising in the dip will In time reach , the affected area and finally quench any remaining trace of fire.
