CIVIL CASES.
In the Magistrate's Court yesterday Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presiding, Robert M'Kenzie Brickley, Petona, sued his father, Wil-. Haiti Brickley, Wellington, for £10, value of a sideboard, or in alternative possession of the furniture. The plaintiff stated that" the sideboard was his property, and his father held ifc until plaintiff was married, when it was to Be handed over. Though he was since married, th© sideboard had not been handed over. For the defenco it was alleged that the article: ot furniture belonged to defendant's wife. Defendant stated he was -willing to give up the sideboard to hits son, but not to the latter's wife. 'His Worship held that plaintiff had failed to establish his claims to the sideboard, and non-suited him without costs. Plaintiff was represented by Mr. O'Leary, and defendant by Mr. Kirkcaldie. The. Empire Loan and Discount Company, Ltd., sued Solomon Lewis for £3 19s 1 6d. The statement of claim set out that on 6th January, 1906, defendant instructed plaintiff to sue a certain person on his behalf arid endeavour to recover the. amourit of a dishonoured piotmsstry note, and to take all necessary steps to recover the same, and he agreed to pay them all expenses of so doing. It was fuilhor alleged that plaintiff sued the man m 'question, and paid to Messrs. Skerrett and Wylio th& sum of £3 19s bd for costs in connection with such action, which costs defendant had not paid the plaintiff. ''After hearing evidence, his Worship gave- judgment for plaintiff for the amount claimed, with costs £1 12s. Mr. Blair appeared for. plaintiff, and Mr. rvirkcaliiie for defendant. ,
