FATHER AND MOTHER CHARGED WITH MURDER.

AN INFANT'S DEATH. [Bt Telegraph.— Pbess Association.] WHANGAREI, This Day. Hirini Ngatimo Hohepo and his wife, Emma Ngatimo Hohepo, charged before Mr. Dyer, S.M., with murder of their infant son, Makarini Hirini Ngatimo Hohepo, on or about 2nd July, at Otara, Mangakaha, by burning him to death with fire, were committed for trial at the next criminal sessions of the Supreme Court at Auckland. The public ■were asked to leave the court prior to the taking of some of the evidence, which was of a particularly disgusting character. Much, of the testimony given at the inquest was repeated. Beyond this it was shown that all concerned appeared to have gone partially insane under some baneful influence. Accused reserved their defence.
