OUR AUDIT SYSTEM.

» . [By Telegraph. — Special to The Post.] FEILDING, This Day. In an interesting leading article on the question of audit, the Feilding Star says : — "One of the most revolutionary proposals outlined in the Governor's Speech, although perhaps it will not at-tra-ct the attention from tho community which it deserves, is the reference to the audit system of the Dominion." After explaining the present and the proposed system, the article adds: "When the late Premier brought down his famous Public Revenues Bill of 1900, under which the '£40 steal' was perpetrated, he was challenged to deny the statement that he had already prepared a measure under which post audit was to be substituted for the old method. Mr. Seddon did not deny tho statement; in fact, he could hardly have done that, as his questioner had a copy of the measure in his po«SBssion; but he was too astute to allow such a proposal to see the light of day in his time. Now, apparently, Sir Joseph Ward has determined to take the matter up, and if he succeeds, we feel sure that every well-wisher of the Dominion will come to tho conclusion that a blow has been struck at ono of the most useful methods in use for the proper control of its finances."
