The American Union of Labour, as a protest, against the employment of* nonunionists, blew up and partly demolished a new stee 1 bridge on tho New HavenHartford railroad at Bronx They were frustrated in an attempt to blow up another bridge on the Bronx river. In their hurry to escape the fugitives dropped ninety pounds of dynamite into the river.

New Haven and Hartford are in the State of Connecticut. The distance between tho towns is thirty-six miles. Both are important commercial circles.
