A big success is anticipated as the acceptances are good and a large number of visitors are already ,in town. The attendance at the course is satisfactory. Up to the present time only three bookmakers have paid for the privilege of betting. Racing losults : — Maiaen Plate, of 50 soys, 6 furlongs — Contour 1, Kelso 2, First Mate 3. Also started : San Jose, Hippolytus, Teotane, San Lass. Hippolytus pulled up after foing three furlongs. Won easily by alf a length. Time, lmin IS l-ssec.
