A big success is anticipated as the acceptances are good and a large number of visitors are already ,in town. The attendance at the course is satisfactory. Up to the present time only three bookmakers have paid for the privilege of betting. Racing losults : — Maiaen Plate, of 50 soys, 6 furlongs — Contour 1, Kelso 2, First Mate 3. Also started : San Jose, Hippolytus, Teotane, San Lass. Hippolytus pulled up after foing three furlongs. Won easily by alf a length. Time, lmin IS l-ssec. Hurdles, of 60 soys ; If miles ; Playmate, lO'-10, 1 ; Concussion, 9.0, 2 ; Mount Oook, 9.9, 3. Land-o'-Nod and Cloudy Morn were scratched. A splendid race. Won by two lengths. Time, 3min 22si?c. / Wharati Hack, of 60 soys ; seven furlongs. — M.errie Zealand, 9.2, 1 ; Seaton Dale, 7.3, 2 ; Pearlie, 7.12, 3. Scratched — Waipunehu, Mikutahi, Truganini. Won' comfortabljr by a, neck. Time, lmin 30sec. DUNEDIN J.C. MEETING. DUNEDIN, This Day. The weather is fine for the opening of the cup meeting, and the going excellent. Results : — Autumn Hurdle Handicap, of 100 soys, 1| miles: Tirole, 10.13, 1; Stormont, 9.2, 2; Storm, 9.9, 3. Scratched: Pacific. A good race. Won by half a length. Time 3min 25 3-ssec. Gladbrook Hack Handicap, of 100 soys ; six furlongs. — Oiyoi, 7.6, 1 ; Rifle Range, 7.9, 2; Ilarita, 8.5, 3. Scratched — Cuirosettia, Pretty Nell. Time, lmin 16 4-ssec. Champagne Stakes, of 250 soys ; sixfurlongs. — Husbandman, 8.10, 1 ; My Lawyer, 8.10, 2; Beneform, 8.10, 3. Scratched — Fleetfoot, Sir Artegal, and Rainmaker. Won in a. common canter.
