PETONE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
A. meeting of the Petone Technical School Board was held laet evening, the Rev. Thomson presiding. There were aleo present Messrs. Castle, Dunean, Mothes, M'Kcnzie, Nicholson and Baldwin. The deputation which recently interviewed the Hon. G. Fowlds, reported that he had promised to do all in his powpr to further the interests of tho now school. The attitude of tho Education Department in regard to ' tho new building was discussed at somo length. On tho chairman's motion it was decided to write to tho Minister for Education expressing great disatisfaction with tho attiture of tho department in not forwarding the interests of the Petone Technical School, and explaining that a ceitain sum would be duo if the contract was not accepted within J a month of the tender. A motion f7r,s paD=ed thanking subscribers to the Seddon Memorial Model Fund (initiated by employees in the railway workshops) fox another donation of £5 sb. / Considerable dircussion took place in connection with tho section of land in held by the trustees of the Boys' Institute. Mr. Thomson contended that it was not a subject for discussion afc the meeting as it did not belong to the board. It was moved by Mr. Nicholson and subsequently decided that unless the trustees wore prepared to hand tho feolion over to tho., Petono School Committee, that it be erased from tho schedule of tha Technical School. It was decided to advertise the classes to their commencement on. Monday, 24th February. Mr. Niehokon reported that the Gear Co., were prepared to buy all scrap lead srom tho technical claw.es, at tho market value. It was resolved that a cooking ckss would be formed in connection with tho school should enough pupils enrol. A Bub-committoo Consisting of Mewrs. Castlo, Thornton, and Duncan, was set up to prepare last year's report. Letters were received from subscribers to the funds of tho school, nominating their representatives for the coming year Wellington Meat Export Co., Rev. Thomson; Wellington Woollen Co., Mr. W. Ramsuen; Seddon Memorial Fund, Mr D M Kenzie ; Gear Co., Messrs. Lodder and Dunean. Nominations are yet to bo recaived from the Education Board, Hutt and Pctone Borough Councils, trustees of the Boys' Institute, and the Petono Working Men's Club. The total representation ou tho board, when all members are elected, will be twelve.
