A MATEUR ATHLETICS. PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. AT LOWER HUTT.
Tho provincial championships of the Wellington centre of the N.Z.A.A.A. were included in the piograinme for the' Hutt Yallev Amateur Athletic Club, winch held ito annual meeting on the Piocreaiion Ground, Leaver Hutt, on Saturday. The weather wi fine and there was a good attendance of tho public. Some Furpnses wero brought off in tho championship events. K. Fisher failed to ruu into a place in tho 100 yards, could only run Fccoud to Daw son in tho 240 yards, and was defeated by W. H.- Pollock in tho 440 yards. There was an explanation, however. Fisher was suffering from neuralgia, and was obviously far below his usual form. H. Henderson did not compete during tho day. Following are tho results: — 50 "Sards Handicap.— First heat: E.
