ST. JOHN'S CHURCH.

Large, congregations assembled in St. John's Church yesterday, when the Rev. Dr. Gibb bade faiewcll to his parishioners, prior to visiting England and Scotland. At tho morning service Dr. Gibb discussed the position of the Ministry of the church at the present hour. Referring to St. John's ho said they Had increased their membership last year by some 300; thoy had raised some £12,000 or £13.000, and tho church had been crowded Sunday after Sunday, especially at the evening service. This was partly duo to the grasp which tho unseen and eternal power had over tho minds of men. Thero was an instinct of religion in tho human ioul. For himself ho could say that from first to last he had preached Christ, and to Christ he attributed the success of his ministry, in so far as it had been real and not seeming. f Dr. Gibb preached again to a largo congregation in the evening, when tho church was ciowded.
