LABOUR REPRESENTATION COMMITTEE.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. A large meeting of the Labour Representation Committee was held in tho Trades Hall last night. There ' wero just on one hundred delegates present, and Mr. M'Laren occupied the chair at the start. Tho Wellington Fabian Society wrote intimating its willingness to be-eonxa aflilinted to tho committee, and sanding Mr. F. T. Moore as its representative. The. credential was received. The Hutt Valley Socifilisfc Party and five local trade unions wero also admitted'tc- thecommittee. The chief business of the evening was the election of oflicers. The following wore elected :— -President, Mr. A. H. Hindmarsh (Political Labour League) ; vice-president, Mr, D. M'Laren (Wharf Labourers' Union) ; secretary, Mr. C. H. Chapman (Typographical Union) ; assistant secretary, Mr. D. Conchie (Building Trades ' and 'Labourers Union) ;v; v treasurer^ Mr.. Ts. J. Carey (Cooks and AVaitdvs' Union). Tho following committee was* apprinted to act with tho officers.—, Messrs. W. T. Young, T." Eagle, WJ G. 'Cload, E. 'T: Evans, W. Tees, F. T. Moore, A. Carter, W. Watsrworth, J. A. Watts, and F. Reylhig. The executive committee to act with tho oflicers of the whole committee is very representative, and there was some time spent over it& choosing. The local and suburban Socialist- parties, ' the Trades Council, and at least seven of ' the unions aio reprecentod on it. ' The committee will meet next week, when the first business to bo dealt with will be the framing of the objective of the committee.
