ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A young man named William Bentley was admitted to the hospital to-day suffering from serious injuries to the spine. Bentley was employed by the I'resh Food and Ice Company to supply tho shipping, and left its depot in Dixonstreet at j^n early hour this morning in charge of a milk Soat on his usual round. About 6 o'clock he was found lying on the roadway on Jervois-quay, with the trap , overturned, pinning him to the ground. He was promptly released, and found to be insensible. As he did not regain consciousness he was removed to the hospital, where it was ascertained that his spine was injured. His condition is rather serious. No one saw the accident, but it is surmised that the vehicle upset through one of the wheels getting caught in the railway line. Bentley is a single man, aged 29. SCALDED TO DEATH. The lid v/as partly on, but the child's weight tilted it, and the child fell feet first into the scalding water. The accident happened at 11.30 a.m., and the child lingered on till 4.30 p.m. Being shockingly scalded, it was impossible to save her.
