AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

NEXT SATURDAY'S MEETING. On Saturday next loyexs of amateur sport will ~bs. provided with some exciting contests on the Basin Reserve, where the nineteenth championship meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association is to he held. The .competitors include most, if not all, the leading exponents of the different branches ot the sport throughout the Dominion. The &print events promise to be paiticularly interesting. Henderson 'will defend his title to the 100 yards championship, and will also compete in the 220 yards championship, of which E. Fisher is the pre6ent holder, W. J". Trembath, of Gore, who is said to be running remarkably ■well ab present, will also measure his Ueetness with Fisher. In the walking events, spectators will be afforded an opportunity of judging the relative ments ot Stubberfield and Kerr. It will be remembered that Kerr was disqualified, when competing at Christchurch last year by the judges. Additional interest attaches to the meeting owing to the fact that from the winners of the championships the controlling body 1 , will select New Zealand's representatives at the Australasian championships to be' decided in Hobart next month, and- that winners distinguishing themselves there have a chance of representing Australasia at tho - Olympic games in London.
