APOLOGY TO AN INEBRIATE. iBT TELSOBAPH— OWW CORKESTONDENT.] OTAKI, This Day. At the Police Court this morning an old offender against sobriety was addressed by the Bench (Mr. Byron Brown, J.P.) thus : "My poor fellow, the Bench owes you an apology. The law says we must punish you for being drunk, and the same law puts temptation in your way at every street corner, so that you shall make a social wreck of yourself, and cause the Dominion unnecessary expense. You are convicted and discharged, but a prohibition order will be granted against you."
