A PALACE OE PEACE. FOUNDATION-STONE LAID.
BRILLIANT GATHERING. A CONTRAST. Br Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. THE HAGUE, 31st July. M. Xelidoff, President of tho Peace Conference, yesterday laid tho founda-tion-stone of the Carnegie Paiace of Peace. There was a brilliant gathering, comprising the delegates representing the various Powers at the Belgium States-General, and the municipality of The Haguo. There wast also a vast concourse of the public. In performing the ceremony, M. Nelidoff contrasted the ancient temples .dedicated to war with the present cult of peace and • the international efforts to make pcaco a reality. A quartette and choir participated in the ceremony.
M_r. Andrew Carnegie, tho multimillionaire, is responsible for tho princely palace, in which it is intended to house the International Committee of Arbitration. The palace is situated in the Vorgvliet Park, a site in which was given by the Netherlands Parliament. .
