GREAT WYRLEY CATTLEMAIMING CASE.
ANOTHER SUSPECT. By Teleci aph.—Press Association.— Copyrigiit. LONDON, 31st July. The Right Hon. Herbert Gladstone, Home Secretary, has placed the papeis in the case of George Edalji, solicitor, sentenced on a charge of maiming cattle at Great Wyrley, and lately granted a free pardon, in the hands of tho Public Prosecutor to see if proceedings srt justified against another suspect.
There «has existed in the minds of manyjjersons a grave doubt as to whether Edalji, son of a clergyman, was the real author of the cattle-maiming for which he was sentenced, and as a result of 'popular agitation the Home Secretary advised the King to grant ths man &4& 4 free pardon, but without compensation. One point in Edalji's favour was contained in the fact that cattle-maim-ing at Great Wyiloy did not cease after Ins imprisonment.
