HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
The House met at 2.30 p.m. PRIVATE 'BILL. Mr. Aitken moved the second reading 'of tho St. Andrew's Church (Wellington) Truces Empowering Bill. Tho motion was carried without debate and # tho Bill passed. SHODDY BOOTS. Mr. Arnold produced an imported boot slashed up the centre of tho sole, showing the material and construction, fhfc uppers ivero of fairly good leather, thTT'^JSci was made of cardboard' layers, with a tnin layer of leather on the outsido. The sole was of cardboard inside, witli thin layers of paper and a thill layci of leather outside. The boot was machine-sewn, as the material would not stand rivetting. Ho gave ripticq to ssk the Minister for Customs if he would introduce legislation prohibiting the cult of such eoods in the colony. (Left sitting.)
