DEATH OF DR. ELMSLIE.

[by telegraph — mEss association*.] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Dr. John Elmslie, th« well-known Prei-bytarian minister, and for many years pastor of St. Paul's, Christchnrch, died last night, aged 76. Deceased resigned his position at St. Paul's m 1903 and his place was taken by the Rev. T. Tait, of Melbourne. Dr. Elmslio was born in Aberdeenshiro, and studied at the King's College and Aberdeen University, and at tho Free Church' College in tho granite city. Ho received hia M.A. degree in 1857, and tho degree of D.D. was conforred on him in 1890. Ho came to New Zealand in 1067, and took charge of tho Presbytcria church at Wanganui, where h romainod till 1876. In that year ho roceived a call from St. Pauls, Christchurch, whcie ho has? resided ever since. Jle 1 was twico married, and leaves a family of eight. Dr. Elmslis has long been one of the leaders of his communion in tha colony.
